Solicitors of Paramjeet Singh have have filed criminal complaints against three out of four police officers sent by India to Portugal based on allegations of torture.

The officers were sent by Indian authorities to oversee the handling of an extradition request against Paramjeet Singh. Two of the three officers have previously been charged with mistreatment – including murder – of prisoners.

Solicitor Amarjit Singh Bhachu said, “The filing of this criminal complaint is an important step not only in Paramjeet Singh’s case but also in the pursuit of justice by countless victims of torture and extra-judicial killings at the hands of Indian security services over many years.”
